dandruff, sandals, spring...

have you seen the head and shoulders commercial? you know, the one showing the guy through every hair stage of his life. this one...

this commercial infuriates me. in the final grown up scenes, the actor has this incredibly beautiful hair... hair anyone would love. but in the final scene, it is all cut off. all his beautiful hair, gone. and then it shows him with a baby, like he had to cut his hair and get a dad haircut once his wife popped a baby out. he had to get a "grown-up" ugly haircut so he could look more "dad like" or something. and i miss his hair, all that beautiful curly hair. and it makes me kind of mad. it really urks me, i just can't explain to you how much it urks me.

and i am glad i got that off my chest. matthew will not be getting a grown up hair cut when baby b comes by the way. i like his long hair. he likes his long hair. he will be a long haired dad.

i wore sandals today. we made it all the way up to 45. i love sandals, they are my one true shoe love. and i just can't take this winter anymore. if spring is hesitant to come here, maybe i can will it here. and really, i spend my entire day inside sitting at a desk in a climate controlled office building, my shoe type makes no difference. because of the 45 degree weather, i can see grass again. not in our yard, we still have like 4 feet of snow... but on the side of the roads underneath all the gravel and salt, there is grass. dead brown grass, but grass just the same. this winter has been the worst winter ever. and it is dragging on and on and on and on and on and on and on. i am dying for some spring. some sunshine. some grass. some color. some life.

as the snow melts, and the grass emerges, and the birds return to chirping, it's as if i find a piece of my soul that was in hibernation all winter. i can finally completely fill my lungs, and hold my head up high. the spring time makes me alive, after a season of darkness and death.

I am in the spring mood as well! I am so ready! We have worn our flip flops the last few days here too and yesterday some of the kids walking him from school had shorts on. It was only 60 but I think everyone is ready for warm weather! Miss you!
