it's never too late...
"The future is something which everyone reaches at the rate of 60 minutes an hour, whatever he does, whoever he is." C.S. Lewis
some days it seems life is passing by in the blink of eye. life is too busy, too hectic. the future soon becomes the past, and we are left wondering where the time went, and what happened to the life we lived.
and every day we wonder what could have been, or what should have been, or what we dreamed life would be. and everyday we spend time in the past, and every moment we spend in the past is a moment we are missing in the present, a moment we are missing dreaming of, and planning for the future.
"With the possible exception of the equator, everything begins somewhere." C.S. Lewis
"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream." C.S. Lewis
it is far too easy to watch the future become the past, and just sit. to see your dreams drift further out of reach, and remain idle. to see the person you wanted to become slip through your fingers with each passing moment. we become comfortable, content, even happy where we are, without allowing ourselves to dream, without allowing ourselves to become what we want, what God had planned for. and we tell ourselves we are undeserving of the dream, that we are unworthy, that we are nobody.
and so we sit. and we may smile, we may laugh, we may be happy, we may find joy and peace. but we will always wonder. we will always wonder what dreams could have come true, what we could have been, what God had planned for us. but it is easier to sit, easier to remain idle, easier to push our dreams to the back, and forget they even existed. it is easier to say life is too hectic, i am too busy, it is easier to get into the swing of life, and forget. forget what we dreamed, forget what we wanted, forget what God had planned for us.
but it is never too late. we are never too old. everything starts somewhere, and we can start dreaming now.
"What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step." C.S. Lewis
and we must take that step. we must dare to take that first step to making our dream a reality. and we must follow that first step, with a second, and then a third. sometimes taking a step seems too far out of our reach, it seems too difficult, too big a risk. but that step may be what saves us. and when the next step is too difficult, when it hurts too much, we may have to ask someone to take that step with us. but we have to take that step.
"There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'thy will be done,' and those to whom God says 'all right. then, have it your way.' " C.S. Lewis

Ha! I love C.S. Lewis. He was a wise man.
ReplyDeleteI keep trying to think along these lines as I sit here, so terrified of failing my college courses that I can barely face the homework. I mean, if I had started this five years ago, I'd be done and moving on with my life. So I have to do the work now for the me I will be in five years.
Great and poignant quotes...made me think!
